Exploring Egypt's Tombs

As you have learned, the ancient Egyptians protected a dead pharaoh's body by mummifying it and then placing it in a tomb. The age of pyramids began in the Old Kingdom when the pharaoh Djoser built the first step pyramid to cover his tomb. Pyramid building continued throughout Egypt's history, but the greatest were built in the Old Kingdom.

The Pyramid Complex at Giza was made up of several buildings. Follow this link to explore the complex: (**Remember to hold down the 'ctrl' key as you click to open a new tab**)
