Ancient Indian Legends

Today you will read two different Indian legends. As you read them, fill out the guided reading worksheet so you will be ready to discuss the stories at the end of class.

When you are finished, you may click the 'Explore' link on the left side of the 'Early Hinduism' page to learn about more of the early Hindu gods. Extra credit: Write a 'biography' of a Hindu god and draw a picture to go with it.

Exploring Egypt's Tombs

As you have learned, the ancient Egyptians protected a dead pharaoh's body by mummifying it and then placing it in a tomb. The age of pyramids began in the Old Kingdom when the pharaoh Djoser built the first step pyramid to cover his tomb. Pyramid building continued throughout Egypt's history, but the greatest were built in the Old Kingdom.
