Weekly Update: October 10-13

Announcements/Reminders:

CONFERENCES are this week! Please RSVP (just a quick reply to this email is enough!) if you are planning to attend on of the ‘Study Skills Success’ session on either Wednesday or Thursday pm at 5:30 and 6:30 so that we will know how many families to expect. We strongly encourage you to attend one of these sessions with your student! We will send home reminders with students that we have scheduled conferences with. If we haven’t schedule an individual conference with you, please feel free to come in during one of our drop-in times, from 5:00-5:30, 6:00-6:30, or 7:00-7:15 on either Wednesday or Thursday.

What's Happening This Week:

Language Arts: We are completing some district testing this week (reading comprehension, vocabulary, and reading fluency). We will also be writing a conclusion for the Stargirl paper we’ve been working on.

  • Weekly work: Book Notes (pages 107-121), Finish 1-paragraph organizer for Stargirl

Social Studies: We will be learning about the time before humans invented writing, called ‘prehistory.’ We will also be practing our map skills by looking at the world’s most populous countries.

  • Weekly work: Warmup log, Ch. 1 Sec. 2 Worksheet, Geo. Packet – World’s Most Populous Countries
  • Quiz: Chapter 1 section 1 & 2 quiz Thursday
